Friends of CC Music Global Summits will be in the Spring

Largely in order to promote the idea of regional events on Netlabel Day, the Friends of CC Music Global Summit will happen in March/April depending on scheduling and will be where the winners of the CC Community Music Awards (CC CMA) are announced. Nominees will be specifically invited to attend.

It is important to note that the CC CMA announcements are just a single event of the Summit.

The first one will be in Minneapolis, taking the place of the Friends of CC Music Midwest Summit that was cancelled earlier today. While I still think regional conferences are the best way forward to get folks engaged and attend, I need to devote my time to the global organization.

What this means is that the events discussed in Netlabel Day Shindig 2025 will be Friends of CC Music: USA events. This eliminates Vancouver and Toronto from contention.

I do think Vancouver might be an excellent spot for the 2026 Global Summit.

I am hoping in 2027 to have the Global Summit in either Scotland or Paris, but this will depend on folks there wanting to host the event.

In 2028, I hope to have the Global Summit in Japan, so start working on your Japanese! Still, it will depend on folks their stepping up to the plate.

I mention these suggestions now so folks can bring up any potential issues with having an event in those places. It is difficult to know what new stupid laws or wars will happen in the future. We’ll just deal with things as they come.

After that, I don’t have specific folks to ask, but we need to think about taking the event to Africa and South America. Africa, in particular, has long been on the periphery of CC Music.
