Finding great music is awesome, but there’s a magic in the shared experience. In being part of a community of people who appreciate an artist or scene. To have somebody both play music for you but also provide a deeper connection to their work. It’s something many more people used to get from the radio that we seem to have lost with algorithmic recommendations.
And today, this should be easier than ever. Anybody can now produce a live stream and/or podcast to highlight music they love to the world. You don’t need to be a professional DJ on a broadcast station. But to play their work online legally, you need to have the permission of the artist. It can be hard to get that directly from the musician, or if they do give it to you, the person who heard it and wants to do the same now has to ask them again. That’s one of the best features of Creative Commons. It’s a license to share.
Below are a mix of the best human curated music mixes going today. Pure podcasts. 24/7 shuffled online streams. Classic radio shows done regularly. Most are a mix of formats. Please check them out.
