CC Listening Party Going Forward

First off, we’ve decided to learn into the Saturday nature of CCLP. I was able to get A23P set up with recording.

I’m still largely against having these on Saturday as that means I am going to have to miss them a fair bit during the summer. Sunday would be a much better day for me. However, some time ago we decided on Saturday for some reason. Perhaps I should write a post on how to join Jitsi. It is actually super easy but the UI is weird so it isn’t clear how easy it is initially. Even after logging in dozens if not hundreds of times, I still find the UI to be pretty terrible at login.

That all said, we really need folks to step up and help record these. I simply cannot be there every time if we continue to have them on Saturdays.

Since we have folks to record now, there will not be any changes to the schedule. As such, I will not be listing the dates here. Some months have 4 Saturdays; some months have 5 Saturdays. We meet on the last one. Most calendar apps will have an option for meeting on the last Saturday.

It came up recently that there may be some confusion about the event. The event is not a listening party in the bandcamp sense of the word. The event is a sharing party. If you don’t have any music you want to share with the group, you can just hang out and chat, but this is not a place where I am just playing music for people. There are plenty of podcasts and streams for that.

We could change the name to CC Sharing Party but as I have been using the tag #cclp on Mastodon, I am not sure changing the name makes sense. I would be interested in hearing your opinion on the matter.
